The 4.4 Km elevated road promises to decongest traffic flowing between Thane and Ghodbunder. Once completed, this will be a major connector between NH-3 and Western Express Highway. The stretch will start from the Fountain Hotel on WEH to the Gaimukh area in Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
Kopri Bridge Widening from Mumbai to Thane
Kopri bridge widening is an expansion of a 4-lane stretch to an 8-lane stretch. This project on the Eastern Expressway Highway is a vital link to connect Mumbai and Thane that will help ease out the traffic in the city. The stretch will be helpful for vehicles heading to Thane, northern Maharashtra, northern India, Kalyan, and Dombivali. This project will reach completion by August 2022.
Thane-Mumbai Waterways
People commuting between Thane-Mumbai and Thane-Panvel could soon experience short travel time with the Thane-Mumbai waterways. The first phase of this project will witness a waterway route from Kalyan to Thane to Vasai, while the second phase will connect Thane with Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Commuters from Thane to Mumbai can save around one hour of travel time, while those travelling from Navi Mumbai to Thane will save 30 minutes.
Thane-Borivali Underground Tunnel
Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation will be constructing an underground road connecting Thane West to Borivali West. Split into two tunnels of three lanes, this new construction covering a stretch of 10.20 kms will reduce the travel time between Thane and Borivali. Once the project reaches completion, commuters will only take around 15 mins to travel between two points. The road will allow vehicles to travel at a top speed of 80km per hour. The route will start from Tikuji Ni Wadi (Thane) and connect with Western Expressway Highway at Borivali.
